The Netflix Effect: Entertainment vs Recovery
Netflix wasn’t my biggest time sink, but it played a specific role. It helped me shut down mentally at night, but it didn’t actually help me recover.
After long binge sessions, my brain felt full but unrested. I slept, but I didn’t reset.
Replacing Netflix with slower activities like reading or walking felt boring at first. Then it felt grounding. My thoughts had space to settle instead of being drowned in constant narratives.
Most people confuse numbing with rest. They’re not the same thing.
